well it's good you are in discussion with them .. have you considered giving them a copy of the employer's guide found on this site
HERE .( or is that the one you have already given them in another post?) You can order online . But bear in mind it mentions the DDA which has now been superseded by the Equalities act. Perhaps show one to the Union Rep to see what he thinks.
The important thing is that they are actually talking , and the fact they are will make them more aware of their responsibilities not just to you but to all their staff , now and in the future .
